A Guide to 30A

I traveled to 30A for the first time as a senior in college, but it’s quickly become one of my very favorite places to be! Growing up in NE Florida, I had no idea that such a gem existed only a few hours away. 30A is the county road that runs 20 miles along the coast of the Florida panhandle. Nestled within each beach community, which feel more like tiny towns that only take about 15 mins to drive through, you’ll discover gems that will make you want to return as often as possible.

Because a few of my college best friends live in the area, I’ve gained the inside tour on the best places to stay, savor, and shop along the coast.

There are SO many options for places to stay in 30A. Between local rental companies, hotels, and Airbnb’s, you’re sure to find the perfect stay whether you’re getting away for the weekend or planning a week-long vacation with the whole family. Beyond that, you’ll never be bored with the beautiful beaches, activities for all ages, and the opportunity to enjoy life at a slower pace.

I want to take you through a tour of my favorite areas, and my recommendations for each!

Seaside:

Seaside feels like you’re living in a Hallmark movie, filled with golf cart riders, bare feet, and top notch shopping experiences. You’ll see families with little kids, groups of sororities and fraternities, and girls on a bachelorette weekend, and EVERYONE is having the best time.

  • Stay: Plenty of houses are on Airbnb, VRBO, and other local rental properties like 360 Blue
  • Savor: You can’t go wrong with any of the food, but here are a few of my favorites!
    • Try ALL of the food trucks– The grilled cheeses at Meltdown are phenomenal!
    • The Great Southern– Go for happy hour for fresh mojitos and delicious appetizers.
    • Pickles– I love a classic burger and shake, and they do it WELL!
    • Bud & Alley’s– While i haven’t had an opportunity to eat here yet, you can’t beat a drink on the beach. This has the best sunset view in Seaside!
    • Modica Market– A true classic. Stop in for groceries, fresh baked donuts, and a GIANT to-go mimosa
  • Shop: Every shop in Seaside has something to offer! Whether you’re looking to add to your kitchen decor, hang a new art piece, or simply snag a t-shirt, Seaside has it all!
    • Ophelia’s– Tucked away from the main drive, Ophelia’s carries swimsuits and fashionable clothes and accessories.
    • The Seaside Style– If you’re looking for the classic t-shirt or crewneck, this is where you find it! There’s Seaside branded EVERYTHING, but also an impressive collection of blue coffee table books.
    • The Cabana– There’s nothing like this outdoor market right off the beach. You’ll find dozens of mini cabanas that house cute clothes, coverups, and more. A must see in Seaside!

Aly’s Beach:

Aly’s Beach is my dream. The architecture, stunning blues and whites, and the ability to travel to and from the beach and the town easily is superb. The Alys Beach “About” page describes what inspired this stunning escape.

“The original vision of Alys Beach has its foundation in Moorish and Mediterranean flairs, with architectural styles founded in the beauty of Bermuda, and with courtyards inspired by homes in Antigua, Guatemala. A combination and experience you will have to see to believe.”

  • Stay: Rentals in Aly’s are more expensive and more suited for a large gathering of people. Check out their official website and vacation properties here.
  • Savor: From a walk up donut shop to the top notch charcuterie, you’ll love the options in Aly’s!
    • Neat– We had the most delicious cocktails and small plates the last time we were there! Charcuterie, a truffle, fig, prosciutto flatbread, and so much more. Also make sure you snag a bottle of wine from their bottleshop, which is filled with a curated collection of top notch food and beverages.
    • Charlie’s Donuts– They’re open 6:30am- 12 pm OR until they run out– which they do! Show up to the truck early, and grab a dozen of EVERYTHING they offer.
    • George’s– George’s is the signature staple of Aly’s Beach. It’s upscale yet casual, so you will enjoy the relaxed lifestyle of beach living but with organic, spa-inspired dishes. It’s certainly pricey, but it’s worth it.
    • Raw & Juicy Bar– If you’re looking for a smoothie or a snack, grab something to go from this stunning location!
  • Shop: While there aren’t a ton of retail options in Aly’s, walk around and window shop for your future dream home.
    • Mast- Shop at Mast and design the perfect beach home. With items from local vendors or lighting and furniture from around the world, you’re guaranteed to find something special to bring home!

Rosemary Beach:

Walking down the cobblestone streets of Rosemary Beach feels like you’ve been transported to a European country. With a large lawn in separating the beach access and the heart of the shopping and dining district, you’ll feel like you’ve finally found the place to rest and relax.

  • Stay:
    • The Pearl– You’ll recognize the black and while awnings against the bright yellow umbrellas anywhere! If you’re looking for a luxury hotel stay, book a room at The Pearl. With multiple dining options, a spa, a pool, and a view of the beach, this is the place to be.
    • Rosemary Beach House Rentals, Airbnb’s, and more!
    • If you’re looking to stay just on the edge of Rosemary, search Airbnb for a condo in Seacrest. You’ll be able to walk, bike, or ride just a few blocks to the heart of it all!
  • Savor: One of my absolute favorite restaurants is in Rosemary! With options for kids, happy hour, fine dining, and more, there’s the perfect place for everyone you’re traveling with.
    • La Crema– The absolutely BEST. Therefore, there will be a wait! Pop in at an off time or grab a drink while your name moves on the list, because this restaurant is worth every minute and penny. This “tapas and chocolate” restaurant shouldn’t need more explanation, but don’t worry– I am happy to oblige! With Spanish small plates and flavors, you’ll want to order one of everything on the menu, but make sure you save room for dessert! My go-to’s? steak tostadas, cheese fondue, piquillo peppers, papayas bravos, and of course, chocolate fondue with peanut butter!
    • Cowgirl Kitchen– If you’re looking for quick and casual, grab a sandwich, taco, salad, and more from here! They also have pizza and ice cream nachos. WOW.
    • Pescado– I haven’t had the chance to eat here yet, but I’ve heard all of the best things! Plus, a phenomenal view of the sunset.
    • Wild Olives– Go here for happy hour. Period. You can get a half bottle of wine from their incredible collection for the price of one glass! With small plates and seafood options, you can also grab some snacks!
    • Havana Beach Rooftop Bar– Enjoy a cocktail and a small plate, while you watch the sunset from the rooftop bar at The Pearl. Make sure you order the blue cheese fondue fries! The most stunning view.
  • Shop: If you want to buy supplies for your kitchen, the comfiest robe, or a new outfit with stunning jewelry, you’ll find it all in Rosemary Beach!
    • Willow– My favorite! It’s certainly pricey, but there are so many incredible brands and quality pieces. If you’re looking for a nice pair of jeans, a new pair of earrings, or shoes, Willow’s styles are amazing!
    • Disco– Disco is light, airy, but with lots of bright styles! With brands like Show Me Your Mumu and Lack of Color, you’re destined to find something you love.
    • The Hidden Lantern Bookstore– Everyone needs a beach read, and sometimes you need a break! Escape into the rooms of bookshelves and discover the magic of this little place.
    • Pitch Patch Patchouli’s– Indulge yourself with fragrances, soaps, a new robe, candles, and tons of other beauty products.
    • Bombara– The classic surf shop. If you need sunscreen, a new bathing suit, or a cute coverup, Bombara’s got you!

BONUS! You absolutely MUST go to Black Bear Bread Co.! And if you know what’s good for you, order the avocado toast. That sounds like a threat, but really, you must. Black Bear Bread Co. is a bakery, coffee shop, and a cafe. There’s something for everyone- a donut, fresh baked bread, oysters, and more! Located in a cute spot in Grayton Beach, you won’t regret it. (and will probably be back!)

I’d love to hear all of your favorites once you visit! Comment below ❤️
